Welcome to Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop for the month of October. The theme for this month’s blog hop is Giving Thanks. The card I am sharing features the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder and Copper Stampin’ Hot Foil. I have been wanting to try a technique that combines an embossing folder and the Reverse Hot Foil Die to create beautiful images!

For your information, Stampin’ Up! does not recommend using embossing folders with the hot foil system. Operating the system outside of Stampin’ Up!’s recommended guidelines could void the product warranty.

Before creating this card, I did some experimenting.

This was the first card stock that I embossed with the Copper Stampin’ Hot Foil. It worked fine, but when I ran the embossing folder through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine a second time, it caused the paper to breakdown and you can see the white from the middle of the two-tone card stock.

For this one, I used the left over foil with the Reverse Hot Foil die. I didn’t need to use the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder to adhere the foil to the card stock, but I did use the embossing folder to run it through a second time to highlight the embossing.

I experimented with Pecan Pie cardstock but decided to use Early Espresso cardstock for the foiling because I think it really makes the foil stand out! For the card, I started with an Early Espresso card base and added Golden Glow and Very Vanilla mats.

The sandwich that worked best for this technique was to add the following after the Stampin’ Hot Foil System heated up:

• Reverse Hot Foil die
• Cooper Stampin’ Hot Foil
• Early Espresso cardstock

• I then waited for the green light and added the embossed side of the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder (The side that doesn’t have the logo on it.). You don’t want to add this until you are ready to run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine because it can become wet from condensation and get your paper wet!

• For the shim, I used a new cutting plate from the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine because it is a little thinner than the shim that comes with the Stampin’ Hot Foil System. (You DO NOT need to use the green shim!)

After removing the foil backing, I lined it up in the embossing folder and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine again so it would emboss the foil and paper.

For the sentiment, I used a sentiment from Fun For Fall and a new foil die, Framed & Fabulous Hot Foil Dies. I foiled the Very Vanilla cardstock using Copper Stampin’ Hot Foil first. After peeling the foil off, I stamped the sentiment and then used the coordinating die to cut it out. I added it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Simply Leaves on Very Vanilla cardstock and added a strip of the foil embossed Early Espresso cardstock. I put it on a Golden Glow mat and adhered it to the card with liquid glue.

For the front of the envelope, I stamped a sunflower from the Radiant Sunflowers stamp set.

For the envelope flap, I used the Reverse Hot Foil die with a strip of Early Espresso cardstock and the left over Sunflower 3D embossed copper foil.
