Today’s card is a modified CASE of a card that Mary Deatherage made for us as a shoebox swap for the retreat that Amy’s Inkin’ Krew went on in September. Mary’s card was a Christmas card. My card can be used for any occasion. I am sending this card to my niece who is away at college. I thought it would be nice to send her a card that features a gift card!

I started by finding an element that would be the focal point for the front of the card and one that was a good size for the front flap. The Silly Old Bear DSP was perfect because there are many scenes that can be cut out with the dies that come with the suite.

After deciding on the scene, I used two dies from Sweet Words & Labels to cut out the scene and the Mossy Meadow border. I also cut a mat for the top front of the card, the inside of the gift card holder and the top of the inside of the card.

The front, bottom of the card is a mat of Very Vanilla cardstock that I inked with Mossy Meadow using a blending brush.

Finally, before putting my card together, I used the Sweet Words & Labels dies to cut out acorns and the leaf dies from Sweet Old Friends to cut out an assortment of leaves in Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze and Golden Glow cardstock.

Now for the assembly…Start with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Mossy Meadow card base scored at 2 1/2″ and 6 1/2″. Fold the bottom 2″ flap up and the top 2 1/2″ flap down. Add the DSP to the top flap and the Very Vanilla piece of card stock that was brushed with Mossy Meadow to the bottom flap.

On the inside, add another piece of DSP to the top, middle of the card base.

Create the gift card holder by starting with a 4 1/4″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Very Vanilla card stock. Score it at 2″ from the bottom and 1/2″ from the top. Fold the top score back (mountain) and fold up from the bottom score (valley). Add a piece of 4 1/8″ x 1 3/4″ DSP to the top below the score line.

Use a 1 3/4″ circle punch to cut a half circle on the bottom, middle to create an area to pull out the gift card. Put Tear & Tape on both sides of the 2″ flap. Remove the film from the Tear & Tape, add a little liquid glue and fold up the bottom flap of the gift card holder.

Add liquid glue to the top 1/2″ scored part of the gift card holder and adhere it to the inside, top flap of the card base. Make sure you center it and that the folded flap is lined up to the card base fold.

Remove the film from the Tear & Tape and add a little liquid glue on top. With the gift card holder underneath, fold up the bottom flap of the card base.

Line up where you want the die cut scene to go on the front of the card. Before adhering it to the top of the flap, add Stampin’ Seal to adhere Mossy Meadow thread so that you can wrap it around the card and make a bow on the side. I used approximately 17″. Use dimensionals to center the die cut scene. Only adhere it to the top flap!

Decorate the bottom with leaves and acorns. I die cut Pooh and a honey pot and colored Pooh with Golden Glow Stampin’ Blends and used the Golden Glow Shimmer Brush on the honey pot. I made sure you couldn’t see Pooh or the honey pot when the card was closed before using dimensionals to add them to the inside of the card.

Stamp and die cut a sentiment to add to the top of the card.

I stamped Pooh and the honey pot on the front of the envelope and colored them with Golden Glow Stampin’ Blends.

And added striped Silly Old Bear DSP to the flap of the envelope.

A few notes about the new system:

• Hot Foil results are best with either White Willow or Two-Tone Cardstock.  Smoother card stocks like the Two-Tone Cardstock and White Willow will achieve the best results when using the system, but you can use the regular card stocks too.
• The Hot Foil System, foil rolls and new hot foil dies and bundles will be available Friday, July 10, 2026 in the online Stampin’ Up! store.
• A FREE Hot Foil Online Class from Stampin’ Up! is included with your hot foil system purchase (a $30 value!), do not add the class separately to your cart (you’ll be charged for it if you do!).  You’ll automatically get a link to it after you purchase the Stampin’ Hot Foil System.
